Swapping rear brakes from 2000 Tahoe into pre 1999 model

Hi everyone –
Has anybody thought about swapping a rear axle, or just the brakes from 2000 + Tahoe, onto a pre 1999 model ? We all now how the brakes were improved with the new generation of Tahoe / Suburban, and how poorly the previous generation brakes work. Any ideas?
