Put a 32" extention ladder (18') on a 59 International and drove away. Must have driven 8-10 blocks then came to a light. Almost sure I had to stop at least once before this.

Anyway came to stop and this all happened in slow motion: realized the ladder was not stopping as fast as the truck. Ladder now coming off the front of the truck. Truck now stopped, ladder still moving about the same rate as it was. Realise ladder is loose, and will no doubt go through the car in front of me, perhaps through the rear window. Begin to shout "expletive deletive". Car in front is edgy and moves up a little toward the light. Ladder falls to ground just missing car's rear bumper. Found my steel ties neatly stored just where I left them when I took the ladder off. Put ladder back on truck. Installed with steel ties. Checked steel ties.

Did I say the boss was in the truck at this time?
