Oil filter change has been discussed several times on the board. From diapers to hub caps under the filter to catch the spillage.
I've made my own tool to poke a hole into the filter body, let it drain while I grease or adjust the rear brake shoes. Tool is just a length of 1/4" steel pipe with one end ground sharp enough to poke a clean hole in sheetmetal of the filter. The point is just an angled grind with another point to "kick" the
flap of sheetmetal cut. Kick up meaning move it out of the way so that oil can flow. Here's how it kind'a sort'a looks:
|\ <---------------------- sharp edge pokes hole

|..\_/| <------------------ kicker sharp edge
|......|
======== <--------- washer & rubber gasket
|......|
Other end of tube is 90* cut. There is a washer brazed on the sharp end with a rubber washer glued on. That seals the filter sheetmetal on the outside so that there's no leakage.
Once the filter is emptied, pull the tool off and spin off the filter.
Tool length is about 28", enough to point toward the
oil catch pan. Use a mallet to drive tool into/through
filter body. Aim at lowest portion of filter body and
usually have tool at an angle towards catch pan.
