Battery/Short Problem Solved!

Well, the tech college I work at was looking for a "live" test car for their battery/charging system
unit so they checked for shorts. None found. Then they did a sustained load test. After a
second or so, the amps dropped - they shouldn't drop for nearly 15! The auto place where
I had the battery tested (no problem found) apparently did not use the proper test! I took the
battery back and after explaining how
I had the battery tested at the college they quickly gave me a new one.
This explains why the vehicle wouldn't start well in really cold weather - more than 1 second worth
of cranking is needed and the amps drop even faster in the cold.

Moral of the story - threaten with prospect of really really bad PR. You will get action.
