Well the Cal registration was due in late December, and although I paid it, I was not able to get the '95 smogged...so no stickers.
The truck passed for HydroCarbon and Carbon Monoxide but failed the new Cal testing for Nitrogen Oxide (NO). Max is 267ppm @ 15mph (scored 1575ppm) and 835ppm @ 25mph (got 1443ppm!!). BTW it now has 173,000 mi on it.
I was finally able to get it to a shop last week. At my request, he replaced the EGR valve with a new AC Delco valve ($82.00). It had been previously replaced at 85,000 or so. The truck scored better but passed after he replaced the EGR sensor ($28.00) and two vacuum hoses.
New scores:
156ppm @ 15mph and
90 ppm @ 25mph
The good news is that I can now run the truck another two more years till the next smog!! My intent is to drive this thing until it truly becomes too expensive to maintain, or it finally goes tires up.
