You can use a paper seal, with or without sealer. Some use sealer on the cover side, grease on the diff side. Dodge makes a grey sealant designed for axles that's compatible w/ synthetic lubes...nicest stuff I've used, and gasket use is optional if you use it.
I've also used permatex ultra-black & hylomar on both sides of a paper gasket...no leaks. It's a pretty non-critical application, use whatever makes you feel good.
: Rear differential.... does it have a felt/paper gasket or just use the liquid tube gasket material.
Save more than you think...you'll be thrilled with the prices of glowplugs for sure.
