Have had flaky barn door lock activity that I attribute to the connector/contacts.
Think the actual solenoid might be OK as this is not enough temp differential to vary specs much. Guess that mechanical tolerances and lube/lack of lube maybe the cause. Or possibly the connectors. Sun on connector heats, unloads spring tension, intermittent.
Not going to be of much help here until I have to tear into mine.
Use steel wool to clean the BD contacts. No coatinh as meen effective to prolong contact in my experience.
Battery terminal problems can be reflected in weak solenoid action, so check that out.
