I have a 2001 K1500 4WD, and I'm looking to replace the Firestone Wilderness LEs that it came with. I do 95% on the road, but I need to ensure that when the weather gets bad (ice/snow)that my tires won't be a liability. I tow rarely but often load the truck with people/tools.
It looks like Costco has good prices - they've got the Michelin LTX M/S and the BFG Long Trail T/A. Many mixed reviews on the BFGs, the bad commentary comes mostly from Xtera drivers, not Suburban drivers. The main complaint was poor traction in the rain - but ice and snow were fine. I've also read that the BFG rugged trails are no good - but again, these were folks running lighter vehicles.
Any advice? Are the Michelin's worth the extra $?
Many thanks
