I removed my side trim a couple of years ago as part of a customizing project I did.
One gotcha that you may also encounter.
For my Sub, there was a "1500" emblem embedded in the side trim pieces on the front doors.
After removing the side trim, I noticed a pair of dimples on each door where the "1500" emblem was previously located.
My body shop guy confirmed that these dimples are a common thing (he has removed side trim on more than a few Suburbans).
