98 LT K1500 with 3:73 Gear ratio I believe (5000lb towing max.)
Regular service.


Not sure where in the rear, I will take it for another spin to see if I can pinpoint it. Will there be any major problems driving it.

Could the U joints be damage from cutting a corner too tight and bumping the curb?

: Maybe you'll get lucky and it will just be the rear u-joint. Check both of them. Otherwise, it probably is time to pop the cover on the axle and see what bad news falls out. Clean off the exterior first, remove the fill plug second and slowly remove the cover bolts third, starting at the bottom. Use a large, clean catch pan so you can see anything in the oil that should not be there. What model/size sub? 4x4? What size axle? Have you done any heavy towing with it? Does the sound come from the center rear or one side? I will say, I have seen u-joints behave that way when they were going out.
