Hi Jon...
Permatex ultra black sealant does an excellent job. I'm paranoid about leaks so I use it on both sides of the gasket. Tighten your cover bolts in a cris-cross pattern. I let the sealant sit for an hour or two before I fill the rear end. I'd recommend M1 synthetic. Email me or call if you need more.
