What's even stranger - both my '99 and '03 had/have locking diffs - G80 option. The manual for the '99 recommended changing diff oil in these G80 units, at first engine oil change. Not a mention of this in the manual for the new '03 - even though it has a drain plug!
I did change diff oil at 3k miles on this new one - Amsoil 75w - 90, series 2000. The plug does appear to incorporate a magnet, though I did not test to see if it was magnetic.
FYI for others. The plug has a small "tapered" seal or washer. Easy to miss. Found mine on garage floor, after finished. Drained and refilled, with washer in place!
