I have a '96 K2500 454 3.73.
I took the burb into the dealership to get some stuff fixed under warranty. In addition to the stuff that they found, they noted that the axle seals in the front diff was leaking a bit. My warranty authorized the fix, and off they went. Well, a couple of hours later they came back and said that the axle is seized in the case and won't come out. I found that strange, but they said they had to get it authorized. It turns out that the cost is going to be $3K+. They said they're going to replace a bunch of stuff (he didn't list all of them). The service manager said that there is a c-clip that seized onto the half shaft and some other junk about the worm gears. Has anyone else heard of such a thing. They said that this is a common problem. I found the $3K price pretty steep, but fortunately I won't be paying for it. Have any of you guys heard of this problem?
