I work with a person who has the same truck and the same problem. He went to the local dealer 11 times to have the truck fixed. The list of attempts below:
Muffler baffles (bearings (;)
New exhaust
added insulation under the floor board....
The list goes on. Finally the senior tech puts a audiometer (sound meter) in the truck and goes for a drive. The meter never passes the GM acceptable noise levels.
My bud takes Goffy Motors to the BBB and tries to have the unit bought back under the lemon law. BBB arbitor says its not a safety issue so he rules in favor of the dealer/mfg.
This problem is common to 1/2 of the 8.1s at my work place. None of the folks at work have gone as far as the lemon law, but it looks like a normal problem.
