Now I recall that our 2500 with the 6.0 did have a 'growl vibration'that was very pecular and annoying as parnine says. Ours was also sporatitic but most prevalent when at idle or just off idle. It was most noticable when pulling out of the garage and I remember being very puzzled as to what the source was. When we took it to the dealer they were well aware of the complaint and immediately offered that they had a fix for the problem. They said that we did not even need to leave the vehicle and that it would be ready in a half hour. When the truck came back from the shop I found that they had hung a weight off of the exhaust pipe! The damn thing weighted about 3 or 4 pounds and was clamped to the pipe just rearward of the right rear wheel on a mount that cantilevered the weight about 5" horizontally from the pipe. The stupid thing looked worse than the afterthought secondary mufflers that Ford hangs at the rear of their expeditions(?) or whatever. The contraption did however lessen the noise to some extend and after some trial and error I found a location that quietened as well and did not stick out like a sore thumb.
