Dealer agrees there is a problem, easily reproduced, and there is PI for it that involves a 'weight', as moss6's post discussed. So, the plan is to order the part and try it out. Evidently this problem which is harmonic resonnance in the exhaust effects a wide range of GM vehicles. Ironically the dealer I'm working with had never seen it before (they are not a big truck dealer) but got mine and a 2002 Tahoe 5.7 both this week, the Tahoe is worse accoring to tech that worked the problems. The head tech (knowledgeable guy who I finally managed to talk with after being passed from 5 other people - who knew nothing be kept saying the next one up would know something) did not like the 'add weight' solution but is going to try it. I like this approach.
Now the real question, what is the real problem and how can it be fixed without a 'added weight' to the muffler? Is it the pipes, muffler, headers? weird to effect the 6.0, per Moss6, 5.7 per GM tech, and 8.1 per mine.
