Next time you fellows have them out to resoled, pop it back in, seat it, leave the cover off, and turn the wipers on. Then go take a look at how the motor shimmies the board as the wipers move, particularly on high speed. Then consider the harness connector is firmly held by the motor housing, but the board wiggles. You DO have a point, Old Pro! But I still need to add another comment to it!

Automtive components should not be subjected to this kind of vibration. If they are, then, they should apply the aerospace technique of soldering the board.

The NASA technicians working on spacecraft components are required to have their soldering techniques "recertified" every 6 months to maintain their skill. Such trainings greatly increase the reliabilties of the circuit boards and components under the tremendous vibrations during lift-offs and entrys .

Coming back to Earth now. If GM applies this kind of specifications on their circuit boards, none of us would be able to afford any of their cars.

One conclusion that comes out of this discussion is the fact that the Suburban's wiper "mounting scheme" is badly conceived and inadequately designed! Therefore, it causes the cracks.
