The ABS on my '99 K1500 Suburban starts to engage the last few feet before it stops. (The pedal squirms and I hear the ABS shuddering under the hood.)
The tires are not skidding or chirping. The ABS seems to work fine at moderate and high speeds. I can see no real reason for it to happen. It seems to release the rear brakes, as nearly as I can tell. It does it first time cold as I back out of the driveway and every time thereafter, forward or backward.
It is scaring the Hell outa me, 'cause I wonder if it's gonna fail completely.
It is full of fluid (hasn't used any). The rear brake auto adjuster is working fine since I modified it(sharpened everything to make it bite), but I went ahead and manually adjusted them tonight. No help.
It apparently started doing this while I was gone on vacation and my daughter was driving it. I don't know if it was in any unusual circumstances while I was gone.
Any pointers appreciated.
Thanks,
Don G
