A new Home Depot was built about two miles from where I live, so I've been checking it out. I found a product I'd never seen called a Rope Ratchet. It is for quick tie-downs like a bungie or strap ratchet, buy uses regular rope. I got two of the 3/8" type with capacity of 250 pounds. The rope it comes with is about 8 feet long.
There are metal hooks on each end and a ratchet. Just pull the rope and it tightens, thumb release to loosen. Slick! The rope it comes with is about 8 feet long. These will be perfect for securing things on the hitch-mounted carrier I have.
