Ben,

On my 94 Sub had the same thing happen, my boss wanted to see if my Sub would fit in her garage, (NO NOT WHAT YOUR THINKING) cause she and her husband were thinking about buying one. Detatched garage in an 80 year old house is not made for a Suburban let me tell you.

Well, she got it in fine but when backing up, craked the passenger mirror. She felt terrible and told me whatever the cost she'd pay for it. Told her I'd check around from dealer to aftermarket and get back to her. Dealer wanted $150 and glass place wanted $15. So, I gave her the good news/bad news story. Bad news is dealer wants $150, good news is I can get it for $15 if I can have Friday off. Of course she went with that deal and I spent the first hour of that day having them fix it. Looked just like the OEM mirror at 10x less the cost.

HTH,

: New office has underground parking...dark 'cuz of the cheap lighting and tinted glass. Backing into a stall next to one of those concrete support pillars had me crush the right side and break the glass.

: Thought about junk yard, but there's a Chevy dealership about four blocks away and I'm checking out the new suroundings anyway. Lucky I did and ask you folks to confirm.

: Parts manager said there are 5-6 different suppliers and NOT all of the replacement glass assemblies will fit other vendors. Needed my VIN number. Price ranged from $45-$51 depending on which. Guess what? Mine is the $51, $56 total after tax & junk.

: Is this true?

: Pain to have to scrape off the special convex mirror I had glued on, but worth it to put it on the new one to have no blind spots on either side of the vehicle.
