Overall, it was a success. The connector for the mirror mated quite nicely on one side of the harness and works fine. Of course, time will tell, but it mated good, so I don't think it will vibrate out. There was plenty of slack in the harness, as Walter Spector (aka "wws") alluded to some time back, so that wasn't a problem.
**One small nit, for some reason the azimuth directions are reversed. I'm not quite sure how, because one wire controls two directions according to the service manual, so I don't know why the elevation is not reversed. Of course, for $225 worth of difference, I can remember that left is right and right is left! :) For that matter, if I ever feel real chipper, I can hack the harness and swap the wires (if that's the cause, any EE's wanna look at the service manual and jump in?).
Overall, it was fine. Everything went as planned. Many thanks to those that posted their opinions and stories over the years.
