I think you could nearly write a book on the subject of gear ratios and their relation to performance,towing power and fuel economy. There are so many varibles to be considered that the possibilities are almost limitedless, ie speeds, loads, majority of useage type, an operator needs and expectations, etc.
Basically the differance could be summed up as simplisticly as possible for say the 3.73 vs 4.10 as slightly better mileage unloaded for the 3.73. Pulling a load the mileage would be better with the 4.10 'if' when pulling the same load with the 3.73 the trans. had to shift to a lower gear than what the 4.10 would pull and therefore actually be running at a higher rpm. That said you can imagine the possibilities.
