Forum members... I'm kinda new around here and only poke my head in once in awhile... I'm a regular to the truck forum, but also own a 'burban now for the last 8 months (96 K1500). Anyway, I need to do brake work on the 'burban and withough a doubt going for Praise Dyno friction material because they're superior to any other I've used on my Z71 (OEM Delcos, Raybestos Brute Stops and Delco Durastops). However, rotors are another matter... Both need to be replaced due to warpage, but I'm choking on the $350+ for the Praise Cryo GM discs, especially since GM discs brand new from gmpartsdirect.com are $100 to my door (yes, total for both). How about A.R.T. units? I can get them for arounf $250 (more reasonable), but have no experience with them. Does anyone here run them? If so, what do you think of them?
I'm well aware of GM problematic 'barely enough' brake systems with their need for constant rear adjustment, too much bias to the front discs (even with better proportioning valve), crappy flex lines, etc., etc., etc. because I've owned GM trucks/SUVs for two decades. I know the friction material I want, rear drums are fine, trashed the rubber flex lines for stainless DOT lines, and will change the fluid to Valvoline Syntec or Motul, but just don't have a warm and fuzzy for discs since these beasts can warp them so easily despite perfect wheel lug torque, avoidance of puddles are car washes that could rapidly cool the rotor, etc.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott
