It still stinks because it is not clean. You will need to shampoo and vacuum the moldy area to remove the allergens creating the smell.
If you do not have a carpet cleaner, you can try the spray carpet cleaner by Blue Coral (?-I think) It is a pink liquid in a spray bottle. Works faily well but will require 2 or more applications for strong odors. Or possibly try a 1/10 solution of citrus oil to water.
