I wish I had received those instructions from the "CHEVY" dealer
Thanks waltd
Similiar story with the proper post install instructions = happy.
: I was on a trip in a 2500 Chev truck (89 or 90 model)one time for a farmer in Oregon to pick up a piece of equipment that he bought in Idaho.
: On the way over, unloaded, we blew out a rear end (truck had about 250K+ miles on it, probably poor maintenance, as the farmer bought it used with over 100K on it).
: The local repair shop had a new set of 4.10s FedEx'ed and installed them the next day. He told us to drive about 15 miles and then stop for dinner and let it cool down, then he told us where to stay that night and told us to take about a 20 mile trip to a state park and back after dinner. He also told us that we needed at least 300 miles on the gear set before towing, prefer over 500, and he told us to take a break ever 100 miles for the first day. We were puzzled, so he explained rear end break-in to two dumb 19 year old kids. We only had 200 miles more to the pickup spot from the break down, so we bought fishing equipment and went on a 150 mile side trip. We also took it real easy on the way back, lots of breaks on the first day.
