I'm gonna find out right along with you. I know what sensor to use, question is where to put it. Possibly mount it in the fill plug hole with the correct pipe adapter. Slick, just like the tranny sensor in the pressure test port.
It won't read ring gear temp, but readings can be compared to what it runs with no loads.
