Changing shocks on '95 2500 4X4, anyone done it?

Hi, I'm fixing to change out the shocks on my '95 Suburban. Just wondering if any one out there has some tips. Looks like I'll need at least a 12" extension on the ratchet to get the rear shocks off. All advice appreciated. Also does anyone know the footpounds they need to be torqued to?
