ScotchGaurd is no longer being sold based in part due to the latest reports of teflon by products (green house gases and cancer causing nasties). ScotchGaurd has teflon as part of it's anti stick.
Only experience I have is when my daughters got some into the nylon rug. It really didn't "stick" to the fibers. More like molded around them. Didn't "dye" it either. It too had ScotchGaurd. We just crumbled it into small pieces and picked it off.
Hope it wasn't them finding the cig lighter and how it kind of melts/burns stuff. My younger brother burned in a bunch of "circles" into the family sedan's front seat covers back in the 50's. Boy was did mad! Wait till they find out how a magnifying works...caught my youngest burning off caterpiller hairs one spring day...YUK!!! :)
