Which will tow better? My '94 has the 4.10's but the '99 I'm looking at has the Vortec 454. I assume the Vortec even with the 3.73 should tow a bit better and do it about 200rpm lower so possibly a small mpg increase. Highway travel should be easier on the engine in that my '94 revs 2850-3000rpm at 80-85mph. The Vortec has a higher redline and the 3.73 ratio will help lower the revs at the same speeds. I only tow about 5,000lbs but I fully enjoy the ease of towing with a 454 and I don't want to lose anything with the lesser gearing.
Opinions???
