: I am planning on getting one for my 2001 and am curious what is involved. How hard is it to install? Do you use the AC or domelight for the positive?

Summit Racing now sells a 5.6" LCD flip-down tv for $270. It's made by Power Acoustik, but most of the LCD screens themselves are made by a few companies such as Sharp. Audiovox, Power Acoustik, Rosen, etc just add the enclosure and connections.

If you don't need the flip-down, Summit sells the 5.6" LCD on a pedestal for $199.

I built my own a few years ago from bare LCDs and used the Audiovox enclosure. The best place to mount it is where dome/map light is currently mounted just behind the front seats. There are a couple of brackets welded to the roof to support the dome light, and these can be used to mount the LCD. You'll have to run power and video cables to the LCD unit, but if you remove the driver's side B-pillar trim piece, you won't have to remove the headliner. You can fish the cables from the hole where the dome light was to the B-pillar area and then run them down the B-pillar. The video cable can then be run to the VCR, and the power cable to a DC source.

If you have the map lights, there is a wire at the dome light you can use for power that's always hot, but you run the risk of running the battery down since you couldn't tell if the screen was left on after it was folded up.
