There was an article on the new series trucks a couple of years ago, where GM claimed that between the use of synthetic fluids and a new technique for 'helical cutting' of the gears, they reduced the average diff temp 100 degrees! I wonder how much of this was the synth vs the new gear cutting technique...
My truck is just about to go in for the 60k 'tuneup'. Anyone have any opinions about the synthetic diff fluid that GM is using? Otherwise I'll just continue to cart over a few bottles of M-1 or Redline (I have Redline in there now...) I know they burn the 'Vette guys $8/qt for Mobil-1, so I'll probably just bring my own anyway.
