: Sorry for continuing to throw these questions out there, but my bench seat, front heat/air Sub creates a chilly ride for my 3-year-old and my 1-year-old during the winter months. In order to throw more heat in the back, we end up roasting up front.
Two ideas:
First, the JC Whitney catalog lists several rear heaters that could probably be installed in your Sub.
Second, the '96+ Subs incorporated additional ductwork under the carpet to duct heat to a pair of under-the-front-seat(s) outlets. This lets hot air flow to 2nd row passengers even without a rear heater system. I've no idea how difficult it would be to retrofit ductwork like this to a pre-'96 Sub (and especially since yours is an '89...), but it is worth a thought.
