Couldn't find it on #1 Son's page...
My '96 Suburban is the only vehicle I've owned that
caused so much pain when exiting it. :-) Slide across
that cloth seat, open the door, get out, then
grab the metal door to close it and ZAP!! I've gotten
arcs up to 1" long.
My friend's mother is threatening to trade in her '97
Tahoe because of this.
For anyone who suffers this, here is my helpful hint.
Apologies if this is already known...
Inside the "fingerwell" of the door-pull/armrest, there
are 2 little screws holding it in place. As you open
the door and slide across the seat, make sure a finger
is constantly touching one of the screws. It keeps
you at the same potential as the truck, and the static
is immediately sent to ground as you generate it.
This will keep you from getting shocked when you grab
the door the second time.
I am looking into having little stainless plates made
that will attach to the inside of the grip, with ground
wires attached. If anyone has already developed such a
thing, let me know. :-)
Thanks,
Lou
