Those fingerwell screws used to get me every time in my '95 Sierra. I filled them in with play-doh just to avoid the shocks when closing the door after getting in.
My solution was to touch the metal of the truck with the tip of the key to discharge the static buildup. You might want to consider seat covers that have less potential (sheep skin?).
My Sub has leather seats and there is no static buildup, but I sure wish those seat warmers would heat up faster in the morning!
