Even though Auto-trac can be used on dry pavement, there is still some binding in tight turns, my K2500 will stop also in auto-4WD if turning and the gas is let off.
The noise, though, I would worry about, again, if you were in Auto-trac mode. I don't get a noise. Just some binding.
