Thanks for the info it will give me a good start at the dealer. Will post results of service.

: I can tell you what I've read on the forums:

: There have been "intermittent neutral" problems with the trans reported, mostly on 4L60E. Trans acts like it's in neutral, then slams into gear upon accel from a stop. Fix as I remember is replacement of valve body to solve sticking valve. Also try a reflash of the VCM first, to latest software rev.

: Similar problem caused by sticking slip yoke at output of T-case. Fix is to lube with GM yoke lube; reports of nickel plated yokes coming out to solve corrosion.

: Other popping noises can be related to loose shocks, loose trans mounts, loose torque converter bolts.

: There was a TSB for 99 and such, to change out the auto trac fluid to stop binding at the slip yoke. Not sure on the new trucks if it's lubed by grease of T-case fluid, or both.

: Last thing I can think of, it could be binding clutch plates in the locking diff. The fix would be to service the diff fluid, and if it still occurred and you knew it was the diff, try some limited slip additive. The locker should not be trying to activate the clutch plates unless there is a ~ 200 RPM difference in wheel speeds. Could have engaged but not released properly. ??

: Good Luck!
