Take another look at the flat 4 cavity connector. The wiring schematic for TSB actuator installation clearly shows a brown wire. Even for the 6.5 TD. The brown wire is located on the connector's outboard side. I don't really think it makes any difference if the brown wire is spliced before or after the transmission. I decided to splice at the transmission side. Reason, adequate work space. Caution...do not cut the brown wire. Just remove enough insulation and splice in the dangling brown wire. Be sure to use tape and seal the wound to prevent water intrusion. To insure you have the correct brown wire, disconnect at cavitiy and measure for +12v at engine side of connector with ignition switch "on". Hope this helps.
