At the dealer parts counter yesterday, looked up some of the parts for a factory fog lamp install. Here are some notes:
.) Even though the '96 C/K trucks did not, AFAIK, have a fog lamp option, some parts are listed. The switch (#15687022, also a matching plate) goes where the 4WD controls are, so obviously was intended for a C-series truck. The relay (#12077866) simply plugs into the fuse block - just to the left of the DRL relay. They also list the same connector (#12125665) for this switch as has been previously posted.
.) No sign of a wiring harness. Since the relay plugs into the stock electrical panel, this presents a mystery as to how things get connected...
.) Moving to the '99 listing, the fog lamp switch for the bottom of the three vertical switch postitions is #15738877 (as previously posted). Same #12125665 connector.
.) As was previously pointed out, when installing a new switch in the 3-blank area, there are about 6-8 different part numbers depending on which positions need holes. For example in my case, one lower hole, the part number is #15694888. For someone with a tailgate they would need three holes - part #15696354. These plates are only like $3 each.
.) The parts list shows a.) top opening: rear wiper/washer switch, b.) center opening: cargo lamp (pickups) or tailgate release, c.) bottom opening: airbag cutout (pickup), aux heater, DRL cutout, or fog lights.
.) On the '99 listing there is a switch listed for 'emergency vehicles' on the left side of the steering column - across from the 4WD controls. Guess this is for emergency lights, siren, etc.
.) I priced out the rear brake light/cargo light from the pickup trucks. As noted below, it won't mount properly on our SUVs, but if anyone is interested I can post some part numbers.
